Tips for Writing College Essays

• Consider the process (Application, interview, essay)

• Think about the question and the audience before you write, then answer the question.

• Use clear, direct language, and keep it concise

• Plan ahead

• Check for grammar and spelling errors

• Ask for assistance

  1. Have a teacher, a counselor, your parent, or come to the Futures Program to have your essay proofread.
